The time has come again for a new year of lessons! Be prepared for a fun challenging practice incentive...The Amazing Race. Not only will you be challenged to practice, but you will learn about some amazing composers along the way. Watch out for Detours and Speedbumps and keep your eye on the Fast Track! This is going to be the best year yet!
If you are interested in taking lessons, this is the year to start! I have extremely limited space, so sign up quickly! Go to the Contact tab and send me an email, I'd love to meet you!
Remember it's never too late to start learning a new skill! The beginning of a new year is a great time start something new. As the for the studio, you can expect fun things for the remaining couple months. I have found some new, super-fun, composing resourses that allow anyone to compose their own music...even after one lesson :) With the help of Muttzart the dog and his evil enemy Ratmoninoff the cat, music composing as never been so much fun. Parents, expect to see some extra creativity in the new year :)
And of course, for my adult students....I try to keep the fun up as well...although maybe not quite as a dramatic as Muttzart or Ratmoninoff :)
It is now official, I live in Glenmore! The move went pretty smoothly. The renovations have been going fast, although it feels like they will never end! The music room is about half ready, we have the floors all redone and the walls painted and most importantly the piano has moved in
Next will be the shelves for all the keyboards!
Hope you all enjoy the rest of the summer and we'll see you all the third week of September in the new studio!
Another summer is upon us, my favourite time of year! We had such a fun piano year and everyone did such a good job at the recital. I was happy to complete our "Mission:Music" theme and finally give your official 'spy kit'! I loved the mustache disguise that many of you had on during our recital, what fun!
Now that the school year is over, the summer activities may begin! This summer, however, will be mostly spent packing boxes... my husband and I are going to be moving up to Glenmore in August! I can't wait to make a whole new studio in our new place as it is much bigger than my current studio. We should be able to fit all 4 keyboards, the digital piano and my regular piano all in the one room! Prepare for a good coming year :) I'm hopeful that we will restart lessons mid to late September. I will keep you posted.
For those of you who are interested in starting lessons, please contact me and I'll be happy to give you more information about the upcoming year. I would love to meet with you (even if it'sin my box-filled old house or the up-and-coming new house!)!
Have a great summer!
So we're just coming off of an wonderful two week spring break and spring if fully in the air! The motivation to practice usually starts to kick in right around this time of year... It's tough to be inside practicing when the weather is so beautiful outside! Don't worry though, I have just the right thing to keep all of you motivated! We've been playing a practice-incentive game called Mission:Music, which involves hopping around the globe to different cities, each one having a special music mission to accomplish. Most students are now nearing half of the map completed and now onto the next 3 continents! The map in my studio is looking more and more filled! The last leg of the race should be the funnest and the prize is really worth all the hard work!! Of course the prize is TOP SECRET, but believe me it's cool :) I challenge you all to keep up the good practicing and finish the rest of our year off well. Be the first to finish all your missions!!
Date to remember:
March 29th- Good Friday (No Lessons)
April 1st- Easter Monday (No Lessons)
April 15th- Backwards Day! We'll do our whole lesson backwards....maybe even play a song backwards :)
May 20th- Victoria Day (No Lessons)
June ?- Recital!!
Another new year is upon us and that means new resolutions! What better way to start the year than to learn a new instrument! Generally speaking, piano lessons take a break during the summer so for those of you considering taking on the piano for the first time this is a great time to start. You'll get to try it out for about 6 months and then summer will be upon us. At that time you can see if piano is something you'd like to continue (hopefully you'll love it so much that you will want to continue through the summer!!).
For those of us that already know the piano, a new year is a good time for new challenges...and maybe some new fun pieces! My students, be prepared for an awesome new year! We'll see you all on January 7th for our first day back :)
How exciting that the fresh crisp fall air has arrived! The leaves are changing colour and the sale of pumpkins have begun. This is a great time start a new hobby, learn a new skill! Now that you've adjusted to life after summer and life has gone back to the mundane, time to add to spice! I think fall is the most productive time in the musical school year, as we all have the motivation to practice! It's the perfect time to start learning the piano.
To all my students: keep up the great work! I'm having so much fun this year, you are all so wonderful!!
Dates to remember:
October 29th- Bring A Friend Day! And come with a costume, we're so close to Halloween!
November 12th- No lessons (holiday)
Christmas anticipation has begun and everyone is getting ready for the big day! Especially my students, who have now begun to practice their pieces for the Christmas Recital! I went Christmas piano book shopping last week at Wentworth Music and they have a wonderful selection this year. I highly suggest you go take a look and purchase at least one. Christmas holidays is a great time to practice a little fun piano, and what funner way than to play some Christmas carols for the family. When buying Christmas material, I generally go for something a little easier than the student has been playing, so that they enjoy every bit of the playing (and so they don't have to practice so hard!).
Mark your calendar for our Christmas Recital on December 8th!!
Dates to remember:
Dec 3- Last day of lessons
Dec 8- Christmas Recital
Jan 7- Lessons resume
